| A Smart Grid combines advanced sensing technology, two-way high-speed communica-tions, 24/7 monitor-ing and enterprise analysis software and related services to provide location-specific, real-time action-able data to all departments in a utility. An AMI solution is a point solution used by the customer service department de-signed to read meters, often using very low band-width. AMI solutions lack the bandwidth and sensing to provide Smart Grid analytics. |
