Senior Core Infrastructure Network Design Engineer
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Designing and troubleshooting core infrastructure to support broadband over powerline offering. The appropriate candidate will demonstrate the ability to: Develop the high to low-level core infrastructure designs by; understanding IP addressing schemes, routers, firewalls, switches, and dynamic routing in order to accomplish the end result. Candidate will understand security approaches and integrate security into network designs/redesigns.
Further, the candidate must provide troubleshooting support via: network sniffers, tcpdump, router and switch provided debug commands. This person will act as 3rd level support for Current’s operational staff in the event of a network outage.
Candidate will be responsible for: Establishing and maintaining relationships with various manufacturers and partners ; New product identification, analysis and benchmarking prior to its deployment into the customer-supporting network; Cross functional relations with BPL engineering and deployment teams at Current Group’s Regional Deployment Centers.
Qualifications:
- Certification: CCNA required. Additional industry certification desirable
- Extensive background with Cisco products/solutions:
- Routers
- Switches
- Firewalls
- DDOS
- Intrusion detection (IDS)
- Dynamic routing protocols
- OSPF
- BGP
- Experience with troubleshooting complex networks to the device level
- Must have knowledge of QoS & CoS tagging
- MPLS /VPLS knowledge
- Internet based VPN knowledge
- IP Multicast knowledge
- IP MPLS knowledge
- FORUM Xwall product
- Applications experience
- VoIP
- Video on Demand
- Technical writing skill
Education & Experience:
- College degree: BS Electrical or Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or Telecommunications.
- Minimum of 5 years network design/support experience.
