Senior Cost Analyst
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with operating teams to collect data to determine costs of business activities.
- Analyzes financial cost data and extracts and defines relevant information; makes cost allocations and interprets data for the purpose of determining current and forecasted cost of activities, functions and services.
- Reviews costs and performs cost benefit analysis related to projects, programs and/or products.
- Performs moderately complex statistical, cost, and financial analysis of data reported in the various financial systems.
- Supports product management team with cost information for pricing purposes, develops cost data for proposed service bundles.
- Develops financial reports for forecasting, trending, and results analysis. Forecasts the financial impact of business decisions.
- Recommends cost improvement measures.
- Uses various software applications, such as spreadsheets, relational databases, timekeeping systems, statistical packages, and graphics packages to assemble, manipulate and/or format data and/or reports.
- Assists in the development and publication of monthly financial information.
- Assists in the annual budgeting and planning process.
- Provides other ad hoc financial analysis on an as needed basis.
Qualifications:
- Ability to research, analyze, and evaluate activity reports and cost information.
- Ability to work with large amounts of data, interpret financial records, detect issues, and develop solutions.
- Experience with database and spreadsheet programs.
- Experience in the use of financial and accounting information systems, particularly timekeeping systems.
- Ability to perform as an effective individual contributor as well as be able to perform in a team environment.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor of Science in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience required. MBA, CPA, CFA is helpful, though not required
- Minimum 5 years experience in budgeting, planning & financial analysis, with at least one year’s experience in labor costing
- Strong sense of natural curiosity, quick analytical skills, instinctive math skills
- Strong finance and accounting understanding
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills ability to work across boundaries
- High energy and self confidence; comfortable around senior leadership
- Expert level experience with MS Office Excel required
- Electronics manufacturing and experience working for or with an electric utility a plus
