Manager, Smart Grid Engineering
The successful candidate will have a sound background in the engineering, operations and maintenance of an electric power distribution utility. A critical factor in this background is a depth of understanding of the technical and business challenges faced by electric distribution utility and a vision for how technology can solve many of these challenges. Management experience or the desire to move into a management role is required. The Manager, Smart Grid Engineering will report directly to the VP of Smart Grid Engineering.
The Smart Grid Engineering Group provides support to both Business Development and Smart Grid Product Management efforts by supplying application knowledge and training on company products and services in the exciting new growth area of the Smart Electric Grid. Training for the Manager of Smart Grid Engineering will include all aspects of Smart Grid applications and infrastructure, as well as the Product Management and Business Development requirements of the position. This position will manage 2-3 Smart Grid Engineers.
Responsibilities
include:
- Critical input into the Product Management process
- Support of Business Development sales meetings
- Customer training for CURRENT's Smart Grid Software application suite
- Support and management of Smart Grid demo houses and displays
- Design of pilot deployment and assistance with market deployment
- Support for promotions and event marketing
- Input into Business Development processes and procedures
- Input into technical responses to RFP’s
- Identification of new product opportunities and customer requirements
Education and Experience:
- BS degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent job experience
- 7 Years Experience in Distribution or Substation Engineering, Planning, Operations or Maintenance
- 2 Years Experience as an Engineering Lead, Project Manager or Manager
- Experience with utility technologies such as SCADA, Distribution Automation, Power Flow Analysis, GIS, Outage Management
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical expertise in supporting the sales process in the proof of concept stage.
- Work with Product Management to identify requirements for Smart Grid products and services.
- Provide reconnaissance for Corporate & Product Strategy team on the importance and value of Smart Grid products from the utility customer perspective.
- Organize, lead and serve on teams established to put new products into production.
- Assist in the planning and execution of trade shows/conferences/forums promoting CURRENT.
- Design and assist lead preparation of small customer pilots.
- Travel is required.
Skills:
- Adeptness in working with cross-functional teams in order to meet a common goal or objective.
- Ability to follow instructions and work with minimal supervision.
- Self-motivated and enthusiastic with good communication and oral presentation skills.
- Ability to relate to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Fluency in Spanish a plus.
