Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Casey is the Chief Executive Officer and a Member of the Board of Directors of CURRENT Group, LLC, the leading provider of Smart Grid Solutions that increase the efficiency and reliability of the electric grid while reducing the environmental impact of electric usage. CURRENT’s Smart Grid Solution combines advanced sensing technology, two-way high-speed communications, 24/7 monitoring and enterprise analysis software and related services to provide utilities and their customers location-specific, real-time actionable data. Mr. Casey joined CURRENT in September 2006.
He previously served as the CEO and Board member of several telecommunications companies. Mr. Casey has also served as co-head of Merrill Lynch’s Global Communications Investment Banking Group, co-head of Skadden Arps’ telecommunications and media group and a partner at Mintz Levin. Mr. Casey previously was the Assistant to the FCC Chairman and Deputy Chief and Acting Chief of the FCC Common Carrier Bureau and was a trial attorney in the US Department of Justice. Mr. Casey has a B.A. from Boston College and a J.D. from George Washington University Law School.
Mr. Casey is also Chairman of the Board of Directors of Integra Telecom Inc.
President & Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Gogel serves as President and Chief Operating Officer with responsibility for all areas of operations, including sales, marketing, product development and management, and information technology. Prior to joining CURRENT, Mr. Gogel worked for Xcel Energy, a major Midwest utility, where he was directly responsible for creating the nation’s first SmartGridCity™ in Boulder, Colorado. Mr. Gogel joined Xcel Energy as Chief Information Officer in 2002, and in 2005 became Chief Administrative Officer and Vice President Customer and Enterprise Services, where he was responsible for Information Technology, Customer Care and Revenue Cycle, Human Resources and Utility Innovations. From 1999 to 2002, he was Vice President and Senior Client Services Principal for the utilities practice at IBM Global Services and also held consulting positions at IBM, where he helped start its Business Process Management practice. Prior to joining IBM in 1996, Mr. Gogel spent 20 years in increasingly senior executive positions at Public Service Electric & Gas, the electric utility serving New Jersey. He received his doctorate and master's degrees from Drew University
SVP, General Counsel and Secretary
Mr. Birnbaum serves as CURRENT's General Counsel and Secretary. Mr. Birnbaum has extensive legal and regulatory experience on Smart Grid and communications matters, both representing CURRENT at and testifying before legislative and regulatory bodies, including the U.S. Congress and various state legislatures and public service commissions. Prior to joining CURRENT Mr. Birnbaum spent 14 years in private legal practice, including 11 years at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, where he was a partner in the firm’s Washington, DC office. Mr. Birnbaum's practice focused on transactional, regulatory and legislative matters involving the U.S. and foreign telecommunications industries, including practice before the FCC and various state public service commissions. Mr. Birnbaum holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Florida and a law degree from the George Washington University Law School.
Vice President of Product Management
Mr. Deaver serves as our Vice President of Product Management. Mr. Deaver brings over 24 years of experience in the electric transmission and distribution industry with extensive experience in substation and distribution automation, reliability improvement, electric distribution planning, and advanced real time control systems.
Previously, Mr. Deaver was Principal Engineer of System Control for Baltimore Gas and Electric, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Constellation Energy, which delivers power to more than 1.2 million electric customers in Central Maryland. At BGE, Mr. Deaver was responsible for substation SCADA, substation automation, distribution automation, volt/var regulation and was the lead engineer on BGE's comprehensive Electric System ReDesign Program. Mr. Deaver earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland at College Park, and has been a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Maryland since 1994.
Senior Vice President of Business Solutions
Ms. Squier-Dow serves as our Senior Vice President of Business Solutions. She has over 23 years of sales and operations leadership experience. Most recently, Ms. Squier-Dow was President, Network Services of One Communications Corp., an $800-million integrated communications provider, where she was responsible for engineering, network operations, service delivery and customer support. Previously, she was Chief Operating Officer of Choice One Communications, a company she co-founded in 1998. Prior to that, she was President of ACC Telecom. She received a B.S. in business administration from SUNY Oswego.
General Manager, CURRENT Technologies International, GmbH
Mr. Hernandez serves as General Manager for the international arm of CURRENT, CURRENT Technologies International, GmbH. Prior to CURRENT, Mr. Hernandez held several executive postions at STS, Alcatel Switzerland and the Alcatel Headquarter in Paris. Mr. Hernandez was delegated from 1998 until 2001 as Vice President of Alcatel USA. In the years 2002 and 2003 he acted as Vice President of Sales for Ascom Powerline Communications AG, followed by three additional years within the industry as managing director of PLC Europe.
In his present role, Mr. Hernandez oversees the international expansion activities in Latin America, Europe, Middle-East and Asia/Pacific as General Manager of CURRENT in Magenwil, Switzerland. In this role, he leverages years of prior energy and telecom industry experience in management positions. Graduations in Engineering in Madrid, in Marketing at the London Business School as well as a Management degree at the Wharton University of Pennsylvania are proving his international flair and management capabilities.
Vice President of Corporate Development and Strategy
Mr. Herron serves as our Vice President of Corporate Development and Strategy. Previously, Mr. Herron managed many of the private equity investments of Hannon Armstrong & Company, a privately held merchant bank, primarily in telecommunications infrastructure and enterprise software. Prior to Hannon Armstrong, Mr. Herron was the Vice President responsible for the U.S. merger and acquisition activity, joint ventures and corporate strategic planning for Aggregate Industries Plc, a multinational building materials company. Mr. Herron previously worked for Ernst & Young in a corporate strategic consulting group. In his career, Mr. Herron has completed approximately 30 merger and acquisition transactions as well as numerous joint ventures and corporate financings. Mr. Herron received an undergraduate degree in accounting and computer science and an M.B.A. in finance from Loyola College of Maryland and has passed the CPA and CMA examinations.
Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Mancini serves as CURRENT's Chief Financial Officer. Prior to that, he served as Chief Financial Officer at One Communications Corp., where he also held senior executive positions at its predecessor company, Choice One Communications. Prior to joining Choice One in 2005, he was Chief Executive Officer of ECI Conference Call Services, and before that, Chief Executive Officer of Global Name Registry (GNR). From 1994 to 2002, he held various management positions at Global Crossing (and its predecessor Frontier Corporation), including serving as General Manager of European Operations for GlobalCenter, Global Crossing's complex web hosting and internet infrastructure solutions subsidiary, and as Vice President of Mergers & Acquisitions for Frontier. Prior to that, Mr. Mancini worked in the financial advisory services practice of Coopers & Lybrand and at SunTrust Banks. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from Florida State University and an MBA from Duke University's Fuqua School of Business.
Chief Technology Officer
Mr. Mollenkopf serves as our Chief Technology Officer. Prior to joining CURRENT, Mr. Mollenkopf worked at Orbital Sciences where he led the communications system design team for the Orbcomm space segment. Before joining Orbital, he served for 11 years with the Central Intelligence Agency in a variety of technology development positions. Mr. Mollenkopf has also served as a founding member of several IEEE Working Groups. Mr. Mollenkopf obtained a B.S. in electrical engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
Vice President of Global Marketing
Ms. Reslock has served as CURRENT Group’s Vice President of Global Marketing for US, EMEA and APAC markets since September 2009. Ms. Reslock is responsible for corporate and strategic marketing; which includes corporate marketing strategy, product marketing, partner and channel marketing, market research, pricing and sales support. Previously, Ms. Reslock held senior roles in strategy and marketing at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, a DOE national lab. Prior to PNNL, Ms. Reslock served as SVP Strategy and Global Marketing for SPL World Group, now Oracle Utilities and was responsible for launching the global energy practice for META Group and later went on to became SVP Global marketing for META, now Gartner. Ms. Reslock started her career in radio and television launching Marketplace on NPR and producing and reporting for Oregon Public Broadcasting and KPTV Portland. Ms. Reslock holds a B.S. in Communications from Portland State University.
Senior Vice President of Product Development and Technology and Vice Chairman of the PRIME Alliance
Mr. Willie serves as Senior Vice President of Product Development and Technology and is Vice Chairman of the PRIME Alliance. Prior to joining CURRENT, Mr. Willie served as Vice President and General Manager of Siemens (Efficient Networks) Broadband Consumer Solutions division in Dallas, Texas where he was responsible for product strategy, product management and development efforts, and overseeing the financial and operational aspects of the business. Prior to his role at Siemens, Mr. Willie held strategic marketing management positions at Texas Instruments and National Semiconductor. Mr. Willie obtained his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University.
